OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WEVV) — Oakland City University informed employees Tuesday of upcoming layoffs effective May 31, 2026.
Alongside the staff reductions, university officials confirmed they will suspend all undergraduate programs. The university plans to contact undergraduate students to provide guidance and outline options for their next steps as forward-moving plans develop.
The suspension of undergraduate operations will not affect higher-level academic tracks. University officials stated that Oakland City University will continue to offer its graduate-level programs. Administrators are currently preparing to resume normal undergraduate operations in time for the 2027–28 academic year.
School officials provided no additional updates or comments regarding the number of employees affected or the specific reasons behind the decisions.
