Let’s face it, baseball players typically aren’t going to be known for their off-field style the way some pro athletes are. Jeans are the norm, maybe cowboy boots. Lots and lots of nice brand-name sneakers — former shortstop Brandon Crawford was the ultimate here. He had an extra locker just for all the footwear.
Even so, there are some San Francisco Giants who have distinct style — who doesn’t enjoy Robbie Ray’s Tennessee Tuxedo look? — and most of those polled agreed there are two leaders in the clubhouse when it comes to fashion.
One of the Giants boldly chose himself (good humoredly), making for fun follow-up questions.

(Lots of colorful workout gear in the clubhouse; outside the clubhouse, a hip New York City vibe for the Manhattan native. All answers very much punctuated with a grin.)

“Myself. And I’d say, besides myself, I love how Luis Arraez dresses, because it’s very him, and that’s what’s important. You have to dress your own way.”

“I think I’d give it to Bader or Arraez. But if it’s a tie between me and someone else and I get the final vote, then I’d say me (laughs).
“I don’t like shopping and I don’t really think about, ‘Oh, this goes with that,’ I just put on whatever I feel like wearing. If you try too hard, people can tell — it’s like you’re forcing it. And making sure it’s comfortable is one of the most important things.”
Joel Peguero, reliever
“Adames. He’s got good fashion, he’s always coordinated. Very sharp.”
Bryce Eldridge, DH-first base
“Willy stands out, Luis too. You never see Willy wearing the same thing twice, he’s always got a different outfit. You always notice him when he walks in. He and Luis have good drip.”

Eric Haase, catcher
“Luis Arraez for sure. He’s always got swag. He’s always got just confidence going. That’s a pretty easy one, either him or Willy, they’re always on top of that stuff.
“Luis is styling. He’s got little bits of bling and shine and shoes. He’s got all the accessories. He knows what he’s doing. Last week (with a soft butter-yellow shirt and matching loose-fitting pants) he looked like he’d just finished a week retreat or something, He’s always got that vibe.”
Trevor McDonald, starter
“Probably Willy — is that a popular answer? He puts it together really well and there’s always something different every day.
“Bader’s up there, too — I don’t know about best dressed (laughs), but I would say I look forward to seeing his outfits so much.”
