Flemming, who has been calling Giants games for KNBR and NBC Sports Bay Area since 2004, will join NBC Sports as their play-by-play announcer for MLB “Sunday Leadoff” games, the network announced on Tuesday.
Flemming’s first game on NBC will be Sunday’s game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays, to air on Peacock and NBC Sports Network.
The new gig won’t take Flemming away from his Giants duties alongside Jon Miller, Duane Kuiper, Mike Krukow and the rest, as has been the case for Flemming as he’s taken the broadcast booth for many different sports at various levels.
Since 2010, Flemming has called college basketball, college football, Major League Baseball and golf — including the Masters and PGA Tournaments — for ESPN. Before that he was the voice of Stanford football and basketball, his alma mater. He’s also called the Little League World Series.
NBC is growing its crop of on-air talent since taking over “Sunday Night Baseball” from ESPN and adding more nationally televised games in a new media rights deal with MLB.
Flemming joins a team of play-by-play announcers that includes Matt Vasgersian and Detroit Tigers announcer Jason Benetti, who is the lead play-by-play announcer on “Sunday Night Baseball.”
