BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Employees from three northwest Bakersfield stores were arrested and cited Friday for selling alcohol to a minor during a decoy operation, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
On May 15, vice detectives with BPD conducted a minor decoy operation in partnership with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

During the operation, a minor enters the store, presents valid identification showing they’re underage and tries to buy alcohol.
If the employee sells alcohol to the decoy, they can be arrested and the business can be subject to administrative action, including possibly losing their ABC license, officials said.
BPD detectives responded to the Rosedale Petromart at 3943 Rosedale Hwy, the 7-11 convenience store at 9600 Brimhall Rd. and the Rosedale Chevron at 9700 Rosedale Hwy.
At each store, one employee was arrested for furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors, according to police. All three employees were later released at the scene with a citation.
The operation is funded by a grant from the ABC Alcohol Policing Partnership program, BPD said.
