More than 100 students from the Long Beach Unified School District participated in this year’s annual “RoboBowl” robotics competition.
The competition brought 150 middle school students from across the district together on Saturday, May 16, at McBride High School, where they put their engineering, teamwork, innovation and problem-solving skills to the test through hands-on challenges and head-to-head competition, district officials said.
In its 12th year, the event is meant to showcase students’ creativity and technical skills — shaping the next generation of STEM leaders, officials said.
Out of 30 teams competing this year, the overall winner was Hughes Middle School. The tournament champions were both Hughes Middle School and Tincher K8 Alliance, district officials said.
The event was hosted by the LBUSD Secondary Office and McBride High School, and sponsored by the Port of Long Beach and the Apostle Foundation.
