All lanes of westbound Interstate 8 have been shut down for a stretch east of Lakeside due to a fatal crash Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident was reported shortly after 11 a.m. as a head-on crash involving two vehicles east of Lake Jennings Park Road, according to the CHP. Wreckage and debris were scattered across the westbound lanes, and one vehicle reportedly landed on its roof.
The CHP has shut down the westbound Dunbar Lane on-ramp, and traffic was being diverted off at Dunbar to Olde Highway 80.
Motorists were urged to take alternate routes and expect delays.
