A man who fled to Nevada after a 2022 deadly shooting in Sacramento’s South Land Park area was convicted of murder on Thursday, the District Attorney’s Office said. A jury found D’Anthony Chaney guilty of first-degree murder with a special allegation of personally discharging a firearm causing death. He was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. (Earlier coverage in the video above.)The Sacramento County DA’s office said Chaney went to Mike’s Liquor on South Land Park Drive to buy alcohol and cigars and exchanged words with the victim, Terrence Lindsey. Lindsey let Chaney go in front of him in line. Chaney then waited for the victim outside of the store and shot him seven times at close range, the DA’s office said. Lindsey died at the scene. Chaney was arrested in Reno several days later. Chaney faces a maximum sentence of 53 years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for July 31.
