Metrolink will offer special rail service for fans and visitors traveling across Southern California during the FIFA World Cup 2026, officials announced Thursday.

For the first time in tournament history, the World Cup will feature 48 teams competing in 104 matches across 16 host cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

In Los Angeles, eight matches are scheduled to be played at Los Angeles Stadium, also known as SoFi Stadium, on June 12, 15, 18, 25 and 28, and July 2. A World Cup Fan Zone event also will take place at Los Angeles Union Station during the final week of June.

“With thousands of fans and visitors from around the world expected to attend, Metrolink will play a critical role in connecting locals and out-of-town guests to these historic events while reducing traffic and improving mobility across the region,” Metrolink Board Chair Doug Chaffee said.

To accommodate travelers, Metrolink officials said the agency will add special service on the 91/Perris Valley, Antelope Valley, Orange County, San Bernardino and Ventura County lines during match days and Fan Fest celebrations at Union Station from June 25-28.

The modified schedule will include late-night train options for evening matches. Officials said Metrolink tickets also will include complimentary transfers on LA Metro services and direct bus transportation between Union Station and Los Angeles Stadium.

Metrolink SoCal Day passes will cost $15. Fare-paying adults may bring up to three children younger than 17 free on weekends.

Officials encouraged attendees to plan ahead and allow extra travel time for matches and Fan Zone events.

At least 10 World Cup Fan Zone events are planned across Los Angeles County, including locations at Exposition Park, downtown Burbank and Pomona.

Los Angeles also is preparing to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and officials said the World Cup transportation plans will help inform future operations.

“As we welcome one of sport’s greatest global traditions, we will also be paying close attention to lessons learned, as Southern California prepares for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in just two short years,” Chaffee said.
