The start of summer has long been met with movement-centered celebrations, those joyous, hands-in-the-air, kick-those-feet festivities that signaled the brightest and outdoorsiest season has commenced.
And while you’re welcome to throw your hands in the air while shopping for groceries or in your dentist’s waiting room, and tapping a toe while in line for coffee is never discouraged, you might want to find a shake-your-stuff spot where you can fully summer-out and dance, dance, dance.
That scintillating spot is the Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center and the cost to come together as a community for elation-inducing evenings of pure dance magic? It’s zero, totally zero, as in no money at all.
That includes the dance instruction that kicks off each Dance DTLA session, if you need to burnish your steps or simply pick up on some fresh techniques.
Dance DTLA is indeed the name of this absolute gift to the city, but you might know that, if you’ve spent the last several summers dancing to cumbia, disco, and Bollywood in the airy cultural space.
It all starts up again June 26, and the final 2026 date is Aug. 14. Keep Friday nights in mind, though it isn’t happening every Friday of that stretch, so do check the calendar.
There are seven nights in all, with salsa, reggaeton, and Afrobeats on the calendar, too.
And if join the first night, on June 26? The Spain vs. Uruguay match will be on the big LED screens as part of the Global Mix & The Music Center’s ¡Dale! Fútbol Watch Party.
