Three more men have been arrested in connection with a February shooting that wounded a man inside a downtown San Jose nightclub, police said Thursday.
Just before 1 a.m. Feb. 15, San Jose Police Department officers responded to a shooting at a club on the 90 block of South Second Street, where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was hospitalized but survived.
Employees restrained the suspected shooter, who police identified as 22-year-old Sean James Jr. of Elk Grove (Sacramento County). He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted murder, as well as several firearm-related charges, police said.
But investigators believe a group of men was involved in a verbal altercation with the victim before shots were fired.
On May 14, three more suspects were arrested: 24-year-old Isaac Ortiz-Guerrero of San Jose, 24-year-old Marteis Sims of San Leandro, and 19-year-old Gabriel Martinez of San Jose.
The three men were booked into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of attempted murder. During searches of their homes, officers found evidence of gang affiliation “as well as evidence of the crime,” the police department said in a statement. They also found an illegal firearm at Ortiz-Guerrero’s home, authorities said.
