Man convicted of deadly 2022 shooting outside of Sacramento County bar, DA says

A jury convicted a man of a 2022 shooting outside of a bar that left one dead and three others injured, according to a Friday news release from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.Joel Zeigler is now convicted of second-degree murder, attempted murder and three counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, the district attorney’s office said. On April 17, 2022, Zeigler was at the Goeman’s Bar—now Score Bar & Lounge— along Franklin Boulevard when he saw a man he thought had previously shot his brother.The district attorney’s office said he fired seven shots at the man, hitting him and three other bystanders. One of the people hit, later identified as 33-year-old Robert Earl Daniel, died at the scene after being hit in the back by gunfire.Each person was shot at least once, but the injuries were not major, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office told KCRA 3 in 2022.Zeigler faces a maximum sentence of 123 years to life in prison and is set to be sentenced on July 24 of this year, the district attorney’s office said.
