As officials continue responding to the ongoing chemical emergency at the GKN Aerospace plant in Garden Grove, an estimated 50,000 residents across parts of Orange County remain displaced under evacuation orders. Here’s a breakdown of evacuation centers, hotlines and other resources available to impacted residents.

Resources for evacuees

Several hotels in Anaheim are offering discounted rates to residents displaced by the evacuation orders, according to Visit Anaheim. A list of participating hotels, rates, details on the offers and contact information is available through Visit Anaheim’s website.

All Planet Fitness locations in Orange County are also open free of charge to displaced residents, employee Chris Mendez said. People impacted by the evacuations can use the gyms, showers and lounge areas.

24 Hour Fitness said it was also opening all of its Orange County locations, as well as multiple gyms in the Southwest Los Angeles area, for evacuees until the evacuation orders are lifted.

Uber announced it is providing evacuees with up to two free rides worth up to $40 each to and from shelter locations through May 25, KTLA reported.

Evacuation centers

As of Saturday afternoon, four evacuation centers were operating throughout Orange County. However, Freedom Hall at Mile Square Regional Park, Savanna High School and John F. Kennedy High School had reached capacity, according to city officials.

The following evacuation centers still had space available as of Saturday afternoon and were accepting pets:

Oceanview High School: 17071 Gothard Street, Huntington Beach
Savanna High School: 301 North Gilbert Street, Anaheim (Full)
John F. Kennedy High School: 8281 Walker Street, La Palma (Full)
Freedom Hall: 16801 Euclid St, Fountain Valley, (Full)

Food and water are available at the shelters, the American Red Cross said in a statement, whether residents stay at the facility overnight or not.

The agency also said it is preparing additional locations and mobilizing more volunteers, and will share new shelter information as it becomes available.
