Crash near Sierra-at-Tahoe kills 33-year-old Sacramento man, CHP says

TWIN BRIDGES, Calif. (KOLO) – A 33-year-old man driving a Honda Fit made an unsafe turning movement into the path of an oncoming Chevrolet Tahoe on U.S. Route 50 near Sierra Ski Ranch Road in Twin Bridges around 5:03 p.m. Saturday, May 23, causing a collision, according to a California Highway Patrol Report of Collision.

Medical personnel pronounced the Honda driver deceased at the scene. The man was from Sacramento.

The 41-year-old driver of the Chevrolet, Sergey Panasenko of North Highlands, was transported to Barton Hospital with moderate injuries, according to the Sunday, May 24, release.

Alcohol, drugs, and speed are not believed to be factors at this time, officers said.

At this time, the cause of the traffic collision and the sequence of events remain under investigation.

Information concerning the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The California Highway Patrol Report of Collision was written and submitted by Sgt. R. Henderson at 11:59 p.m.

Fatal victim information is releasable through the coroner. The coroner’s case number is 26-3571.
