‘DeMille Estate’ for Sale
The actress Angelina Jolie has put her sprawling Los Angeles estate on the market, amid speculation that she’s planning to leave the country this year. The asking price is $29.85 million.
The 2.1-acre, walled property was once owned by the legendary filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille. It is situated in Laughlin Park, a gated enclave in the city’s Los Feliz neighborhood.
The centerpiece of the estate is an 11,000-square-foot Beaux-Arts-style mansion perched atop a hill, with six bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms, a library and a wine cellar. There’s also a guesthouse with a fireplace, a pool house and fitness studio, a teahouse and a separate three-car garage.
The landscaped grounds include a pool and several century-old trees.
DeMille acquired the property in 1916 and four years later expanded it with the purchase of a neighboring residence that was once home to Charlie Chaplin. The mansion, according to the listing, is a combination of two structures.
Ms. Jolie bought the estate for around $24.5 million in June 2017, several months after filing for divorce from the actor Brad Pitt.
She has expressed her unhappiness with the current political climate in the United States and indicated that she is likely to relocate abroad sometime after her twins with Mr. Pitt, Vivienne and Knox, turn 18 in July.
“I love my country, but I don’t at this time recognize my country,” Ms. Jolie, the mother of six, said last summer during a news conference at the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain. “I’ve always lived internationally. My family is international.”
Ernie Carswell of Sotheby’s International Realty and Jon Grauman with Resident Group have the listing.
A Napa Valley Estate is Listed
The home of Peter Magowan, a former owner of the San Francisco Giants baseball team, is up for sale. The Napa Valley estate — in St. Helena, Calif. — has been listed for $13 million.
Mr. Magowan, who died in 2019, bought the home with his wife, Deborah Magowan, as a retreat from the city. The Magowans acquired the home in 1992, about a year before Mr. Magowan became the managing general partner of the Giants.
The original house was built in 1990, but the Magowans customized it over the years, and bought up surrounding land to create the current almost 20-acre estate.
The 7,175-square-foot, seven-bedroom house includes a tennis court, pool, manicured gardens, rose-covered archways, and about 15 acres of planted vineyards — which the family harvested and sold to wineries.
The home is listed by Ginger Martin of Sotheby’s International Realty and news of the offering was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The news of the sale comes a few weeks after the Bravo television network said it had temporarily paused “The Real Housewives of Miami,” the show Ms. Nepola appears in, because of sluggish ratings.
The three-bedroom, 4,185 square-foot villa sits on a quarter-acre lot and was built in 2021. The Ritz-Carlton Residences give residents access to a private marina, a rooftop pool deck and other resort-like amenities.
The home was listed by Devin Kay at Douglas Elliman and the sale was first reported by The Real Deal.
