1 killed in crash on Capital City Freeway in Sacramento
ABOUT THAT COMING UP IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES. BUT FIRST, ANOTHER CHECK OF TRAFFIC WITH BRIAN. AND IT’S PRETTY QUIET ACROSS THE REGION FOR THE HOLIDAY. BUT YOU CAN SEE HERE ON THE CAPITAL CITY FREEWAY THAT IS THE MARCONI OVERPASS THERE. AND ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCREEN, THERE IS A CAR THAT CAME OFF THE OFF RAMP THERE AND INTO A POLE DOWN THAT EMBANKMENT. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS A FATAL COLLISION. AND CHP SAYS THAT THAT RIGHT LANE WILL BE SHUT DOWN FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS WHILE THEY INVESTIGATE, AND THEN EVENTUALLY CLEAR THIS CRASH SCENE. SO FOR NOW, THAT RIGHT LANE IS CLOSED. THEY HAVE BEEN RUNNING A TRAFFIC BREAK IN THAT AREA, AND THAT IS SLOWING DOWN TRAFFIC AS IT SHOULD COMING INTO THAT. HERE’S A PICTURE LEADING UP TO THAT AREA FROM THE CAMERA AT EL CAMINO. LEADING UP TO THAT POINT, YOU CAN SEE CALTRANS IS NOW PUT OUT SOME CONES TO ALERT DRIVERS AHEAD THAT THAT RIGHT LANE IS CLOSED AND URGING PEOPLE OVER AND OUT OF THE WAY THERE. SO WE DO HAVE SOME SLOWING ON THE CAP CITY FREEWAY. BUT AS WE WIDEN OUT, YOU CAN SEE THE REST OF THE REGION. EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK, IT’S IN THE GREEN
