Gunshots were heard while officers were serving a warrant in a South Los Angeles neighborhood overnight.
Police were sent to the area of East 52nd Place and Main Street in the South Park neighborhood around 11:30 p.m. Sunday regarding a grand theft auto suspect, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.
The suspect refused to leave the home, according to the spokesperson, who said gunshots were heard from inside the location while officers were outside.
A SWAT team was called to the location to assist with the standoff.

Video showed law enforcement officers wearing helmets and carrying shields as they approached the location.
About 40 to 50 people were evacuated from nearby residences, according to news video service OnSceneTv, whose cameras captured what sounded like gunfire.
The hourslong standoff came to an end around 5:20 a.m. when the suspect, who has not been identified, was taken into custody without incident, the spokesperson said.
No further details about the shooting or whether anyone was injured were immediately provided.
