The San Miguel Fire Rescue Department were able to quickly stop the spread of a vegetation fire reported near Spring Street and Leigh Avenue in Spring Valley Monday night, according to the ALERT San Diego Incident page.
Fire officials said the forward rate of spread was stopped and the fire remained at 5 acres.
An apartment complex near Spring Canyon Road had to be evacuated temporarily, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
As of right now, evacuation orders are over, but a temporary evacuation zone was set up at the parking lot at Target located at 935 Sweetwater Road.
A person was also detained as a possible suspect connected to the cause of the fire, according to sheriff officials. Bomb and arson detectives were on their way to the area to investigate further.
