Five would-be burglars in masks were scared away by a private security guard during an attempted home break-in in Westwood overnight.
The confrontation was reported at about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday just a few blocks away from the University of California, Los Angeles campus, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The group broke through a side gate but was scared off by the security before they were able to gain access into the home, police said.
Law enforcement said the prowlers were armed.
A detailed description of the individuals involved in the attempted break-in was not provided.
