A Los Angeles man who is accused of kidnapping his 5-year-old daughter after killing her mom inside their West Adams home appears to have traveled south to the U.S. and Mexico border, according to surveillance footage obtained by NBC Los Angeles.

The images from a parking garage in San Ysidro from Sunday appear to show Rubern Fregoso, 40, with his allegedly kidnapped daughter, 5-year-old Daleza.

The man was carrying a suitcase while holding the little girl’s hand. Fregoso was seen in a black vest with ripped jeans along with a black hat. The 5-year-old was wearing a light blue shirt and sweatpants.

The California Highway Patrol also confirmed a car belonging to Fregoso — a 2019 Land Rover Discovery with California license plate 9DAW715 — was found inside the parking lot of the San Ysidro Point of Entry, but the suspect and the child were not located.

Fregoso and his daughter were last seen at 4 a.m. Sunday near Alsace Avenue and Ferndale Street in Los Angeles.

NBC4 Investigates has confirmed, according to at least two sources, that a body found inside a West Adams home is the mother of a missing 5-year-old girl at the center of an Amber Alert.

The 5-year-old girl is described to be 3 feet tall, weight about 45 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
