(FOX40.COM) — An adult and a 2-year-old child were injured after a house caught fire Wednesday morning in Sacramento, the Sacramento Fire Department said. Civilians rescued them before first responders arrived.
Fire crews were dispatched around 11:15 a.m. to property on the 2500 block of Grove Avenue after receiving reports of a bedroom fire at a residence. Two people were reportedly trapped inside.
Before firefighters arrived, some Good Samaritans rushed inside and pulled out a man and a 2-year-old child. The man was unresponsive, but crews immediately started CPR and advance life support measures, the first department said.
He regained consciousness and was talking by the time he was loaded into an ambulance. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and was in stable condition. The 2-year-old only suffered minor inhalation, the fire department said.
The fire department does not recommended people run into burning buildings, but in this case, it appears to have made a life saving difference. The fire was contained and did not spread throughout the house. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
