Juvenile is bringing Oakland back to the early 2000s with his forthcoming concert at the Fox Theater.
The New Orleans rapper, whose real name is Terius Gray, rose to fame in the late 1990s with hits such as “Slow Motion,” “Back That Azz Up” and “Ha.” He’s widely regarded as a pioneer of Southern hip-hop and contributed to the rise of Cash Money Records, with which he worked both as a solo artist and as part of the collective Hot Boys.

His high-energy club music is characterized by its rhythmic drawl, uptempo beats and funk influence. Returning to the stage with his first full-length solo project in more than a decade, “Boiling Point,” the musician performs in Oakland on June 5. The record, released in March, features several of Juvenile’s musical peers, such as Megan Thee Stallion, Timbaland and Mannie Fresh.
