BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two eighteen-year-olds were involved in an alleged DUI motorcycle crash on Thursday afternoon, resulting in minor to moderate injuries just hours before their high school graduation, according to Bakersfield police.

The driver was arrested, and police are reminding residents of the dangers of underage drinking and driving under the influence.

At around 2:37 p.m., officers were called to the area of Panorama Drive and Union Avenue for a report of a motorcyclist and a pedestrian who were heading south, lost control, and struck a guardrail. The passenger was ejected and went down an embankment.

The passenger sustained moderate, non-life-threatening injuries and is listed as “stable.”

The driver sustained minor injuries and was suspected of being under the influence. He was arrested for alleged DUI charges and booked into the Kern County Jail. His identity was not released at this time.

Police said speed and impairment were factors in this crash.
