Caltrans announced a scheduled 28-hour full closure of northbound Capital City Freeway from 11 p.m. on Friday to 3 a.m. Sunday, as crews continue work on the American River Bridge Rehabilitation Project.The closure will affect northbound traffic from N Street to Exposition Boulevard. According to Caltrans, construction crews will apply a polyester concrete overlay to the bridge deck, a process that requires extended curing time and makes the full closure necessary. Southbound lanes will remain open during the work.Several ramps and connectors will also be closed, including the northbound P Street, J Street and E Street on-ramps, as well as the eastbound and westbound U.S. Highway 50 connectors to northbound Capital City Freeway/Business 80.Officials are urging motorists to use alternate routes and avoid the area during the closure.
