A man who died in an early morning motorcycle crash on the Bay Bridge last week has been identified as a 30-year-old Hercules resident by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau.

Anthony Rahgozar crashed his motorcycle on May 21 at about 5:30 a.m. just west of the metering lights on the westbound lanes of the bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Within two minutes of the 911 call, a CHP officer was at the scene and performing CPR on Rahgozar, who was found lying unconscious in the roadway, said CHP spokesperson Officer Mark Andrews.

Oakland Fire Department personnel declared Rahgozar dead at the scene at about 5:45 a.m.

It’s unclear what caused the crash but after being thrown from the bike, Rahgozar was run over by a box truck, Andrews said.

The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Anyone with information about the crash can call CHP Officer Noah Cornell at (415) 276-5300.
