GREENE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Judco Manufacturing has officially moved its headquarters from California, bringing more than 60 jobs to Greene County.

The family-owned automotive supply company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new location just outside of Snow Hill on Friday morning.

Kurt George, Judco president and CEO, said the company plans to establish long-term roots in the area.

“Well, this is not only our next location, but we hope it’s our last location. We’ve been in business for 50 years, and we have long-term employees. In Los Angeles, we had employees who were with us for 35 and 40 years, so that’s the type of roots that we’d like to put down in Eastern Carolina, and this is the future of Judco,” George said.

Yolanda Carranza, who has been an employee with the company for over 40 years, said she is happy for the new chapter.

“I’ve been with them for 41 years, and I’ve been treated as family,” she said. “I felt really happy, I’m glad for Judco, and I wish you guys the best.”

The company brings an investment of $5.3 million to Greene County.

Trey Cash, the chief operating officer for the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region, says the move is significant for the county.

“It’s huge for Greene County. As a person who’s lived here my whole life, it’s a great statement to show that industrial companies are looking to expand and move their operations here to Greene County,” Cash said. “We’ve been saying for a long time that Greene County is prime for industrial development with Interstate 587, how close Greenville is, how close Goldsboro and Kinston are, and less than one hour from Raleigh.”

The move from California was driven by high operational costs and looming tariffs that were anticipated this summer.

Cash says this development will also benefit small businesses in the county, as more people move into town.
