A new trial date has been set for former California State University, Bakersfield assistant basketball coach Kevin Mays, who is facing multiple felony charges, including allegations that he trafficked a woman across three states.

According to court records, Mays was in court Friday morning, but the hearing was postponed for a week. He is due back in court on Friday, June 5.

Mays was arrested in August 2025 and later charged in September 2025. Prosecutors accuse him of trafficking a woman across California, Oregon and Washington.

Court records show the case has been delayed at least seven times since the charges were filed.

Mays is charged with pimping and pandering, possession of illegal firearms — including an assault weapon — and possession of methamphetamine and marijuana for purposes of sales. Misdemeanor counts related to firearms and drug possession were also charged.

Several aggravating factors have also been alleged, including claims that the crimes involved a particularly vulnerable victim and a high degree of planning and sophistication.

Mays pleaded not guilty on April 7, 2026, records show. He remains in custody without bail.
