The Portland Timbers host San Diego FC on Saturday night looking to avoid elimination from Round One of the MLS Cup playoffs.

Phil Neville’s side was narrowly defeated in game one in San Diego, 2-1. A first-half goal from Kristoffer Velde was not enough to overcome the 2-0 deficit the visitors dug themselves.

To make matters worse, Portland’s starting left back Jimer Fory was sent off due to a second yellow card and will miss game two.

San Diego’s inaugural MLS campaign is going swimmingly so far. After clinching top seed in the West, goals from Anders Dreyer and Onni Valakari have them one win away from the conference semifinals.
