SOME SACRAMENTO COUNTY VOTERS ARE ALREADY CHECKING ONE THING OFF THEIR TO DO LIST WITH WORK DURING THE WEEK. IT MAKES IT EASY TO DO IT ON THE WEEKEND, DOING SOME ERRANDS, AND I WAS RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. I SAW THE VOTING WAS OPEN AND WENT HOME, PICKED UP MY BALLOT AND RAN ON DOWN. EARLY VOTING IS UNDERWAY ACROSS SACRAMENTO COUNTY, GIVING VOTERS THE CHANCE TO CAST THEIR BALLOTS BEFORE THE JUNE 2ND PRIMARY. WE’RE JUST STARTING TO RUN OUR ERRANDS, AND THIS IS THE STOP ALONG THE WAY, SO IT MAKES IT EASY. EVEN THOUGH TUESDAY IS ELECTION DAY, THERE WILL BE LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO WAIT. VOTE CENTERS HAVE BEEN OPEN FOR MORE THAN A WEEK, WITH MORE OPENING TODAY OFFERING VOTERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO CAST A BALLOT EARLY, REPLACE A LOST BALLOT, OR EVEN REGISTER TO VOTE BEFORE ELECTION DAY. YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO TO ANY ONE LOCATION. IF YOU RECEIVED A MAIL IN BALLOT, YOU CAN MAIL IT, BUT YOU ALSO HAVE MORE THAN 90 VOTING CENTER OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM HERE IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY. TO DROP IT OFF, ALL YOU DO IS JUST WALK IN AND DROP IT OFF AT THE BALLOT BOX. ELECTION OFFICIALS SAY VOTERS CHOOSE TO CAST A BALLOT EARLY OR WAIT UNTIL TUESDAY. Sacramento County voters have more opportunities to cast their ballots ahead of Tuesday’s primary election as additional vote centers opened across the county Saturday.Residents can use the more than 90 vote center locations to cast their ballot before election day. “We’re just starting to run our errands, and this is the stop along the way, so it makes it easy,” said Bridget Mulkerin, a Sacramento County voter who cast her ballot early.Election officials expect turnout to increase as election day approaches, with many voters traditionally waiting until the final days to cast their ballots.”Tuesday is election day. There will be lots of people who wait,” said vote center inspector Tressa Tobaris.Tobaris said early voting offers residents more flexibility and can help voters avoid potential election day crowds. Voters also are not assigned to a specific vote center and can visit any location in the county that is most convenient for them.Officials said voters planning to cast a ballot in person on election day must be in line by 8 p.m. Mail ballots may also be returned at any vote center or ballot drop box before polls close.
