Police were investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon that injured three people in downtown San Jose, according to authorities.

The San Jose Police Department said the shooting occurred around South First and East Reed streets, several blocks from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

Police said the victims each suffered at least one gunshot wound and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Police urged people to avoid the area and said traffic would be blocked off and impacted in the area for an “extended amount of time.”

The police department did not immediately respond to a request for further details.
