SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Five candidates faced off for the District 5 seat on San Diego County’s Board of Supervisors during the June primary election.

The contenders are aiming to replace Jim Desmond, who has represented District 5 — which covers a large portion of North County and inland communities — since 2019.

The top two finishers in the June primary will move on to the November election regardless of political party.
