ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayor Kim Norton is heading to California to join more than 200 local leaders at the 94th Annual Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The meeting will focus on challenges facing American cities, including housing affordability, public safety, infrastructure investment, local-federal partnerships, artificial intelligence and immigration policy. Norton will participate in discussions, committee meetings and plenary sessions with fellow mayors to help shape a unified agenda for America’s cities for the coming year and the nation’s 250th anniversary.
Norton says she will carry a Jobs, Education and Workforce policy resolution on behalf of Jinny Rietman, president and CEO of Workforce Development, Inc. The resolution will bring Rochester’s workforce development priorities before mayors from across the nation.
“The U.S. Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting is an important opportunity for city leaders to come together, share ideas and develop solutions to the challenges facing communities across the country,” Norton said. “As Rochester continues to grow, I look forward to representing our city, sharing the innovative work happening here and advancing workforce development priorities that support employers, job seekers and economic opportunity in Rochester and communities across the country.”
Norton said she also looks forward to learning from fellow mayors as they address challenges such as housing affordability, public safety, infrastructure investment and strong local-federal partnerships that benefit Rochester residents. The meeting will be held June 4-7 in Long Beach, California.
