OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WFIE) – Oakland City University President Ron Dempsey says donors are still gathering the $1 million needed.
It’s to cover the last two missed paychecks for their employees as well as this coming Friday’s check.
He says those donors hope to begin moving the money toward OCU Wednesday.

Dr. Dempsey tells us they are now caught up with requested transcripts.
“So that should continue smoothly from now on,” he said.
Employees will be given the option of picking up their check from the campus or having it mailed.
Dr. Dempsey says once the funds are in their accounts, they will send out an email.
As we reported, most of OCU staff was laid off Sunday.
Undergrad programs have been suspended.
The university says they are continuing to offer graduate-level programs and preparing to resume undergraduate operations in the 2027–28 academic year.
