American Legion San Dieguito Post 416 in Encinitas hosted the community’s annual Memorial Day Observance on May 25, bringing together veterans, families, civic leaders, and local youth organizations for a tribute to the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States, a news release stated.
This year’s theme, “Remembering a Century of Service,” reflects both the legacy of Post 416—founded in 1932—and the generations of Americans who have answered the nation’s call over the past hundred years. The ceremony highlighted stories of service and sacrifice across eras, branches, and backgrounds, honoring not only those who fell in battle but also the families and communities who carried their memory forward, the news release stated.
