Kern County FD to schedule training burns in east Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Fire Department is scheduled to conduct training burns in east Bakersfield Wednesday and Thursday.
The burns are scheduled to last from 8 a.m. into the afternoon both days, according to the fire department.
The “Wildland Hot Drills” are scheduled to be in east Bakersfield near highways 178 and 184. Fire officials said the purpose of the drills is to benefit public safety and eliminate dry and dead grass, which poses as a fire threat.
The training burns consist of fire exercises and focuses on developing skills in newer firefighters.
