An 86-yearold Clovis man was killed Monday after colliding with a guardrail on Highway 168.

The incident occurred at 1:40 p.m. on Highway 168 at the Herndon Avenue off-ramp, where Clovis Police Department officers came upon the scene.

Officers performed lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victim on Tuesday as Jack Reed of Clovis.

The California Highway Patrol said the man was driving a Volvo XC90 when he struck a guardrail along the right shoulder, causing the vehicle to veer left and come to rest in the center median.

CHP spokesperson Mike Salas said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and no other vehicles or passengers were involved.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
