Summer Splash Bash: The city of Poway is hosting a day of music, games and swimming from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 5 at the Poway Community Swim Center, 13094 Civic Center Drive. Activities include open access to an in-water inflatable obstacle course, organized games and races, crafts, land inflatables, and a big splash competition off the diving boards. Food drive: Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church is holding a drive-thru food collection from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6 in its upper parking lot, 17010 Pomerado Road. Donations will be given to Interfaith Community Services in Escondido. Needed are boxed cereals, pastas, crackers or rice; and canned meats, soups, pasta sauces (no glass jars), meals and vegetables. Cash or checks can be made out to Interfaith Community Services also accepted.

Free food: Lifebridge Church will hold its monthly food distribution from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6 in its lower parking lot, 17645 W. Bernardo Drive in Rancho Bernardo. The food distribution is made possible through Buckheart Ranch, a San Diego Food Bank agency. Recipients are typically given boxed and canned goods and fresh produce.
