(FOX40.COM) — A second Sacramento man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from shipping hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills around the country for more than a year, according to a news release published Thursday.
Reginald Jones, 36, pleaded guilty to 15 counts of drug trafficking offenses and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of California. Another member of the group, 36-year-old Marcus Miller, of Sacramento, also pleaded guilty to similar charges on May 29.
Law enforcement seized approximately 450,000 fentanyl pills in packages shipped by Jones and his co-conspirators, often hidden inside children’s toys. Evidence indicates the group shipped over a million fentanyl pills to customers in several different states, the attorney’s office said.
During searches, agents found hundreds of thousands of fentanyl pills, more than $80,000 in cash, and 17 firearms. Some pills and a firearm were hidden inside a secret compartment in Miller’s vehicle, the attorney’s office said.
Jones and Miller are both scheduled to be sentenced in October and each faces a mandatory sentence of at least 10 years in prison.
