A SigAlert was issued Friday morning after a tanker truck caught fire on Interstate 5 near Carmel Valley Road.
First responders were called around 7:20 a.m. to northbound lanes of the freeway. Video from viewer John Cihomsky showed the cabin of the truck in flames and a plume of thick smoke rising above.
Several lanes of the freeway were originally blocked for the smouldering vehicle but by about 7:40 a.m., three lanes were reopened. A SigAlert was still in place due to about 30-minute delays affecting both I-5 and Interstate 805.
It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured.
