Fire crews have reached full containment on the Border 6 Fire, which burned thousands of acres near the U.S.-Mexico border over the past week.

Cal Fire officials announced Sunday morning that the fire — which ignited Monday — is now 100% contained, holding at 2,525 acres.

In a statement posted to social media, officials thanked the multiple agencies and personnel who responded to the incident, emphasizing how the coordinated effort helped stop the fire’s spread.

“It was incredible to see the Cal Fire C-130 from Ramona Air Attack Base supporting firefighting operations on this incident,” the agency stated.

“A heartfelt thank you to all of the agencies and personnel who worked alongside us throughout this fire. Your partnership, professionalism, and dedication are truly appreciated.”

The wildfire prompted evacuations and a significant emergency response as it burned in rugged terrain near San Diego’s border region. Crews worked for days to strengthen containment lines and protect nearby communities.
