Preview: San Diego’s best to square off in Tuesday’s All-Star softball game at SDSU

CIF San Diego Section All-Star Softball Game and Home Run Derby

When: 5 p.m. Tuesday

Where: San Diego State’s on-campus softball stadium

Home Run Derby preview: West Hills High School’s Katy Spargo, Southwest El Centro’s Kaydence Wiewel, Mater Dei Catholic’s Gigi Flores and Bonita Vista’s Kiana Balajadia-Brooks will square off. The Home Run Derby begins at 5 p.m. with the nine-inning All-Star Game immediately following.

All-Star Game: It’s East vs. West with 24 seniors on each roster. The East roster includes Mater Dei Catholic outfielder Bella Harris, Bonita Vista shortstop Leau Letuli, Steele Canyon outfielder Ily Barcvlay and Rancho Bernardo outfielder Ellery Housand, among others. The West roster features Carlsbad outfielder Gabby Nevarez, Mission Hills pitcher Oloa Matos, Point Loma catcher Avery MacPherson and Westview infielder Emma Guzman.
