A public unveiling of the “Pathway of Honor” at the Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial on Oakland County’s campus in Pontiac will be held Tuesday, June 9 at 3:30 p.m.
The event will include a ribbon cutting for the commemorative installation honoring America’s heroes through a patriotic display of sponsored American flags.
Presented by Pixley Funeral Homes, the Pathway of Honor is part of the “Celebrate 250” initiative commemorating America’s 250th anniversary and will be a visible tribute to military members, first responders, veterans and others throughout the community, as recognized by sponsors. The sponsored flags will fly throughout the summer, leading up to commemorative events on Sept. 11.
On June 10, the Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial is hosting its 20th annual cookout. Admission is a $10 donation. Hamburgers, hot dogs, coney dogs, boneless chicken wings, fruit, ice cream and cookies will be served.
The Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial is at the northeast corner of County Center Drive East and Telegraph Road, near the headquarters of the sheriff’s office.
