BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The City of Bakersfield announced that there will be overnight closures and lane reductions planned for both directions of Stockdale Highway between Old River Boulevard and Buena Vista Road for a month-long pavement rehabilitation project starting Tuesday, June 9.

The City said the closures will be in place 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Thursday, July 10.

The project includes the reconstruction of Stockdale Highway, including removing existing asphalt and repaving the roadway; installing thermoplastic and green methyl methacrylate striping and lane markings; the adjustment of existing manholes and water valves; the construction of new median nose; and the adjustment of monument encasements.

Lane reductions and closures are expected during the project.

Drivers are advised to use alternate routes or to plan for additional travel time through the affected area. Traffic controls will be in place when necessary to ensure safe travel through the work area.

The City said construction work may be postponed and rescheduled without notice due to inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions.
