Although he graduated from Will C. Wood High School on Friday, DeShawn Seymour Jr. will still be wearing blue and gold for the foreseeable future.
On Monday, the track phenom announced his commitment to San Jose State University. The standout sprinter held multiple Division I offers, but is now slated to compete for the Spartans.
“This long journey wouldn’t have been possible without my village of support, which I am grateful to have had in my corner,” Seymour said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Seymour holds school records in the boys 100-meter dash (10.22 seconds) and 200-meter dash (20.88). His blistering mark of 10.22 was the fourth fastest time in California this year.
He capped off his high school career with a third-place finish in the 100 (10.29) at the CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis on May 30. He also placed eighth in the 200 (21.21).
