Authorities have publicly identified two people who lost their lives over the last week to San Diego County traffic crashes.
About 10:30 p.m. Monday, deputies responding to a report of a single-vehicle crash found 36-year-old Tyler Sidders of Solana Beach fatally injured in a 2014 Mercedes SUV. The vehicle had veered off Jimmy Durante Boulevard in Del Mar, crashed into construction equipment and overturned, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office. Sidders died at the scene of the crash.
Three days earlier, 56-year-old Aaron Hernandez Renteria of El Cajon died in a predawn wreck involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 5 near San Diego International Airport, according to the county agency and the California Highway Patrol.
Renteria was behind the wheel of a Dodge Durango that collided with a Honda CR-V on the southbound side of the freeway near Laurel Street in the Little Italy area shortly before 3 a.m. May 29. He succumbed to his injuries at the site of the crash.
Paramedics took the other motorist, identified by the medical examiner last week as 62-year-old Jesus Verduzco of Bonita, to UCSD Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a little more than an hour after the crash.
The Highway Patrol reported that one of the SUVs was traveling north at the time of the wreck but has not specified which one.
