Fifteen nonprofit groups working in the Inland Empire have been honored for what they do.

They have been named by local state legislators as California Nonprofits of the Year.

The program, now in its 11th year, has saluted more than 1,000 nonprofit organizations in the state, according to a news release.

The awards “reflect the innovation, creativity and breadth of service that nonprofits offer throughout the state,” the release states.

The nonprofit groups were honored at a May 20 luncheon at the state Capitol on “California Nonprofits Day.”

Legislators can name and honor a nonprofit group serving in their district.

“These nonprofits reflect the Inland Empire’s diversity, serving communities in health and wellness, youth development, housing and homelessness, family support, legal advocacy, military families and animal welfare,” the release states.

The Inland Empire honorees are:

State Senate

District 19 — New Hope Village, honored by Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, R-Redlands

District 23 — Antelope Valley Blue Star Mothers Chapter 14, honored by Sen. Suzette Martinez Valladares, R-Santa Clarita

District 29 — Family Assistance Program, honored by Sen. Eloise Gómez Reyes, D-San Bernardino

District 31 —  Inland Counties Legal Services, honored by Sen. Sabrina Cervantes, D-Riverside

District 32 — Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center, honored by Sen. Kelly Seyarto, R-Murrieta

State Assembly

District 34 —  Today’s Woman Foundation, honored by Assemblymember Tom Lackey, R-Palmdale

District 36 —  Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, honored by Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez, R-Indio

District 45 — Common Vision Coalition, honored by Assemblymember James Ramos, D-Highland
