A man who died last weekend after falling halfway down a cliff at a beach in Santa Cruz County has been identified as a 23-year-old San Jose resident, officials announced Tuesday.

Anthony Ruiz Serret fell halfway down a cliff at Bonny Doon Beach and landed mid-cliff early Saturday morning, officials said. Firefighters used a rope system to recover him, but he did not survive.
