(KRON) — Firefighters appear to be getting a handle on a fire burning near Los Lagos Golf Course in San Jose Tuesday afternoon. Initially, the fire was threatening structures and spreading at a moderate rate of speed, according to the San Jose Fire Department. Firefighters are responding to the blaze which is centered around the 3100 block of Locke Drive.

A subsequent update said that while the fire was not yet under control, structures were no longer threatened. As of just after 4:30 p.m., SJFD said forward progress on the blaze had been halted.
The fire has burned an area of approximately 12.5 acres, according to SJFD Deputy Chief Aaron Freyler.
SJFD is advising people to avoid the area. Fire officials said select units were assigned to protect nearby structures.
