BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 22-year-old man was arrested after a hours-long standoff in southwest Bakersfield early Wednesday morning after reports of gunfire.
The Bakersfield Police Department said that on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at around 4:16 a.m., officers were called to the 4600 block of Country Place Lane in southwest Bakersfield after multiple people reported hearing gunfire in the area.
Police said officers quickly determined the apartment where the suspect, who was reported to have a rifle, was barricaded and established a perimeter.
BPD SWAT personnel arrived at the scene.

For multiple hours, call-outs for surrender were made, with the suspect refusing to exit the apartment.
According to police, eventually a chemical agent was deployed into the apartment and the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Enrique Barraza, got out of the building and was taken into custody.
BPD said no one was injured.
