A new business has moved into Naples — though its owner, Megan Wright, is no stranger to the area.
Wright is the owner of The Small Cafe, popular for its Cars & Coffee series among other offerings. Now, she’s opened up a new business, dubbed The Small Market, and is hoping to make it a true community space.
“This isn’t our space; this is a space for everyone,” Wright said. “A home away from home.”
As someone who grew up in Naples, where my parents had house accounts at Morry’s liquor, Zietan’s market, and Naples Drug store, I’m pleased that the small community vibe continues in Naples thanks to business owners like Wright.
Wright says that it’s always been a dream of hers to open a little market. And when she took over Small Cafe in April 2024 (which she did, in part, to save her father’s favorite breakfast spot from closing down), she knew it would be the perfect place to make that dream happen.
Now, with help from cousin and new business partner Annie Ludwig, that dream has become a reality.
“I have an older sister, Nicole and a younger brother, Charles. When Annie came along 10 years later, we were all in heaven and she completed our crew. She was our baby,” Wright said. “Annie and I didn’t just open The Small Market as business owners, we opened it as neighbors who are deeply in love with this community. We want it to be a place for the essentials, yes, but more than that, we want it to be yours.”

Wright says that in the coming weeks, customers can expect to see new additions to Small Market’s offerings, including fresh produce like milk, creamer, eggs, butter, cheese, pantry goods, fresh bread and baked goods, home made ice cream, deli items, made-to-order sandwiches, and more.
“We’d love to hear from our neighbors with any suggestions or ideas,” Wright said. “I had the best time at our soft opening meeting new neighbors, seeing old friends and chatting with everyone, we are so excited.”
The Small Market is also hosting an open house on Friday, June 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It is located at 5666 Second Street, just two doors down from The Small Cafe at 5656 Second Street.
