Shots were fired on the 101 Freeway Thursday morning in Boyle Heights after the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a person with a weapon.

The shooting was reported on the northbound side of the freeway after officers responded to calls about someone on the road with a weapon, possibly a hammer.

Details about the condition of the person on the freeway were not immediately available.

No officers were injured.

Lanes on both sides of the 101 Freeway near Fourth Street were closed for the shooting investigation. The closure was expected to continue into later Thursday morning.
